Student Health

Student Health

The Family Medicine Center is committed to providing high-quality, student-centered care and services. Our care is convenient, confidential, accessible, and affordable. We have attending physicians, residents, and nurse practitioners on our staff to provide a wide range of services. We specialize in Family Medicine.

Our goal is to provide education, prevention, and coordination of medical care and services for UIC students. Student feedback is appreciated so that we can continuously improve our service. If you have a question or concern, please e-mail our practice director at Landmei@uic.edu.

The student health fee, paid as part of your tuition, provides access to our service during each academic semester and summer for enrolled students.

Our Services

As an enrolled student at UIC, you have access to a wide range of services, including early treatment of illness and injury, prevention, nutrition education, and health promotion/outreach services.

Medical emergencies while a student

While a student at UIC, if you have a life threatening medical emergency you should dial 911 (9-911 from campus phones). An ambulance will transport you to the nearest hospital for treatment. The Student Health Fee does not cover the cost for emergency service; you will need to contact your private insurance company for coverage information.

Scheduling an appointment

PDAAll care at the Family Medicine Center is by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (312) 996-2901 during office hours. Please arrive a few minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so we can complete your registration.

What do you do if the service you need is not covered by student health?

Occasionally, a student may need services that will not be covered by the student health fee included in tuition. Since the Family Medicine Center is a primary care center as well as the student health center, we can provide additional services as medically indicated or make an appropriate referral recommendation.

Payment for these services will be the responsibility of the student and/or the student’s private health insurance. The Family Medicine Center is a CCN provider of services under MegaLife Insurance. If you have MegaLife as your private insurance coverage, many additional services will be covered by your insurance.
