Stem Cell Transplant Results

Goals of the Stem Cell Transplant Team

- To improve the quality of life of patients

- To limit the complications

- To extend our approach to patients with other diseases

- To develop and improve strategies for using alternative stem cell donor sources

The Medical Center has performed on average 50 peripheral blood or bone marrow-derived stem cell transplants per year since 1997.

The success rates for patients treated with stem cell transplantation at the Medical Center have been comparable to well established national benchmarks. As a testament to the quality of care received by patients transplanted at the Medical Center, the program has received accreditation from the National Marrow Donor Program as well as the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), the major national stem cell transplant foundation.
