Our Goals

The Goals of Stem Cell Transplant

The stem cell transplant team approaches each case with the following goals in mind:

  • To significantly increase the survival and improve the quality of life of patients with hematological disorders.
  • To limit the complications that may occur during and after a stem cell transplant due to drug toxicities, infections, or graft versus host disease (GVDH) by a multidisciplinary clinical approach to the patients, safe and updated technologies for stem cell manipulation, and continuous training of the transplant staff.
  • To extend our approach to patients with other diseases such as solid tumors, who are not eligible for a standard transplant because of their age or clinical conditions.
  • To develop and improve strategies for using alternative stem cell donor sources.
