Midwifery
We have the largest Certified Midwifery group in Illinois with 20 certified nurse midwives (CNMs) who work collaboratively with all our OBGYN physicians. The certified nurse midwives at the University of Illinois Medical Center take a highly personalized approach to caring for you and your baby during pregnancy and birth. They involve your family and offer emotional and social support in addition to physical care. Our nurse-midwives want you to take an active role in making the right health care decisions for you and your family.
University of Illinois Medical Center nurse-midwives provide a range of services to women throughout life, including well-woman gynecological care and prenatal care. Certified nurse-midwives provide services within our extensive health care system, providing immediate access to consultation and assistance from board certified or board eligible obstetrician/gynecologist physicians.
Certified nurse-midwives undergo extensive educational preparation to be licensed in the state of Illinois. Medical Center certified nurse-midwives have completed a program in nurse-midwifery accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives, hold Masters degrees from an accredited university and are certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives Certification Council. |
