Eyes (Opthalmology)

Established in 1858, the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of Illinois Medical Center is among the oldest medical facilities in the United States dedicated exclusively to the prevention, treatment, education and research of eye disease.

In addition to providing the highest quality eye care available, the department provides educational and research programs that converge leading technology, innovation, and collaboration between Ophthalmologists and Scientists.

The Department is comprised of a full-time faculty of over 30 clinicians and research scientists, as well as over 150 associate and volunteer faculty located throughout the Chicago area.  Our outstanding physicians and researchers have earned national and international reputations as clinicians and educators.  They continuously strive to develop the diagnostic tools, techniques and treatments necessary to eradicate eye disease.
