Bone HealthOsteoporosis is associated with an increased risk of fractures and morbidity. Early intervention can halt or reverse the process leading to a reduction in fractures. The Nutrition and Wellness Center offers bone mineral density (DXA) tests to screen for osteoporosis. Patients at risk for osteoporosis include those over the age of 65, those who use chronic corticosteroids, and individuals with a past history of fractures. In addition, patients with a history of organ transplantation and renal failure should be screened.
