Employee Benefits

Employees of the University of Illinois Medical Center commit themselves to superior patient care and a dedication to the advancement of medicine. We reward these commitments with competitive salaries and a wide range of employee benefits.

Included Benefits

Health Insurance
There are two types of health care plans available

  • Quality Care Health Plan (QCHP)
  • Managed Care plans
    • Health Management Organization Plan (HMO)
    • Open Access Plan (OAP).

Dental Insurance
There are two types of dental plans available

  • Quality Care Dental Plan (QCDP)
  • Managed Care Dental Plan (MCDP)

Vision Insurance
University of Illinois employees automatically receive the Vision Service Plan (VSP) at no cost.

Life Insurance
Life insurance is automatically provided to full-time employees eligible to receive benefits. In addition, employees eligible for benefits and their dependents may qualify for optional life insurance coverage.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance
Accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance is available to both employees eligible for benefits and their eligible dependents. Eligible employees may apply for voluntary AD&D insurance for themselves through either the State or University plans and for their eligible dependents through the University plan. Acceptance to the plan is guaranteed. Payment for the voluntary plan(s) is made through payroll deduction.

Long-Term Care Insurance
The long term care insurance plan is provided through MetLife Insurance Company. Coverage is available to employees who are eligible to receive benefits as well as their spouse, parents, parents-in-law, and retirees.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Medical Center employees are eligible to enroll in the State of Illinois Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). FSAs allow employees the opportunity to use pretax dollars for eligible medical and/or dependent care expenses.

Optional Benefits

Long-Term Disability
Long-term disability (LTD) insurance plans are available to employees eligible to receive benefits and who are participating in the State Universities Retirement System (SURS). Full-time and part-time employees participating in SURS automatically receive LTD insurance. Employees participating in SURS may also apply for supplemental, voluntary LTD insurance. Payment for the voluntary plan is made through payroll deduction.

Retirement Plans
The Medical Center offers a comprehensive retirement package to help plan for future financial stability.

Included in the total compensation package for benefit eligible employees is automatic participation in the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) plan and voluntary participation in the University and State Tax Deferred Retirement Plans (TDRPs).
